Head of the Delegation of Bulgarian Socialists to the EP Peter Vitanov has opened today a permanent office in Varna.
“I am confident that this office will be a generator of many original and innovative ideas in support of the left in Europe and Bulgaria! I believe this can be a meeting place for young people with leftist ideas, who care about Bulgarian and European politics. A place where European initiatives and programmes can be promoted and transformed locally,” said Vitanov.
He added that Europe was giving a lot of money to bridge the differences between regions through its Cohesion Policy, but regretfully, many Bulgarian citizens did not understand that. “They do not understand that also because the authorities are using these resources very ineffectively. What I wish is to have real cohesion through resources going to the smaller municipalities and not accumulating in huge megaprojects,” he explained.
Although the mandate of the new European Parliament has just begun, the Delegation of Bulgarian Socialists already has working offices in Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Yambol and Montana. Offices in Plovdiv and Russe will open by the end of the year. Tsvetelina Penkova will also open offices in Veliko Turnovo and Silistra.
