One of my key priorities for the next five years is to regain the social face of Europe

“Before discussing the thematic priorities, which the left-wing MEPs will be working on in the new European Parliament, we should take stock of what is essential for the EU at the moment, and that is to regain its social face, strengthen the safeguards for the working people and the youth, in order to build a truly social union,” said Peter Vitanov, head of the delegation of Bulgarian socialists to the European Parliament, at the discussion entitled “Priorities of the Bulgarian MEPs for the new term of office,” and organized by the Office of the European Parliament in Bulgaria.

To the question about how we could attract young people back to Bulgaria, he answered: “Unfortunately, it seems that the policies for successful young people are not very effective. We should offer them prospects for development here, and not in Europe. This can only happen through joint efforts on a national and EU level.”

According to Vitanov, the main topics of national interest also include Bulgaria and Romania’s accession to Schengen, the Dublin Regulation reform, lifting the CVM for our country, safeguarding the rights of people working in the transport sector, etc. “I am confident that together with the colleagues from the other parties we will join efforts to achieve these goals,” he added.
