The socialist asked a Finnish minister for her country’s fair mediation on the Mobility package

“I am concerned that many people working in the international transport sector in different countries are at risk of losing their jobs due to bankruptcy of enterprises. These are mostly small and medium-sized enterprises or family businesses and the only source of income for many households. It is not fair to set the same conditions for large, small and medium-sized companies,” said Peter Vitanov, head of the delegation of Bulgarian socialists to the EP, at the hearing of Sanna Marin, Finnish Minister of Transport, before the TRAN Committee in Brussels. “I hope you will be a fair mediator in the upcoming talks on the Mobility I package. You know how sensitive this issue is in a number of member states, including Bulgaria. I hope that the Finnish presidency will help our citizens overcome the feeling that we could be driven out of EU’s internal market,” added Vitanov.

Ms Marin presented the priorities of the Finnish presidency in the transport sector to the MEPs. The main focus was on automation of transport, digitalization of transport services and reduction of CO2 emissions by enhancing energy efficiency in the transport systems, etc.

Later today Commissioner for transport Violeta Bulc will answer questions of MEPs
