02.07.2019

The newly elected European Parliament was formed at a formal sitting in Strasbourg. The positioning of the Bulgarian socialists in the EP is in line with the topics that will build the EU agenda in the context of the Bulgarian national interest. Head of delegation Peter Vitanov will continue to uphold the interests of Bulgarian and international drivers and operators in the TRAN committee. He will also be member of the LIBE committee, of which Sergei Stanishev was deputy chair in the previous term of office. The PES leader will represent the BSP in the Foreign Policy Committee and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. Treasurer of the group Tsvetelina Penkova will join the Committees on Regional Development, Budgetary Control, as well as the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee. Elena Yoncheva will sit in the Subcommittee on Security and Defence and the LIBE Committee. The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, and the AGRI Committee are within the priorities of Ivo Hristov. “I am happy that we managed to ensure participation in the committees and delegations. We will have a chance to cover a wide spectrum of issues that are important for our country and our party,” said Head of the delegation of Bulgarian socialists Peter Vitanov.
